Thanks for the post and for sharing your point of view on the web. I too found David's presentation engaging and the case studies of great collaboration thought provoking. I also really enjoyed Mark's explaination of Defamation law as it relates to social media insightful. I advise all of our clients to create guidelines and protocols that are in line with the legal system as well as thier own ethics and corporate culture.

Thanks for the mention - always happy to share.

I actually think that the Deloittes presentation provided a very good example of how large businesses can maximise on their internal intranet' systems applying the concepts of crowd sourcing etc that we know about from our businesses. Generally the staff have this closed system that just stores their systems and processes that many do not even access. So while they refer to it as being a 'social media' application it is still safe from the often challenging rigours of a broader ie customer and community all non Deloitte viewpoints. It does reinvigorate their internal cyber system and maximise on staff contributions by breaking down the internal barriers that exist across section/departments/areas of a business...

The lawyers examples were mostly points about the wider application of social media and identifying that defamation, privacy etc but to say that Recruitment Agencies and Insurance companies were already using it as a rich source of personal information that would influence employment decisions....I was very interested in the LinkedIn example.. where a long term senior player in the business was accepted the invitation to be a LinkedIn contact from the CEO and their contacts and later left the business and set up in competition using these contacts - now that's some food for thought

Love those risk managers....
